The Christingle Service is one of my favourite events of the year, and this year was no exception!  It was wonderful to see all our Foundation Stage children in their nativity costumes - they were so confident and well-behaved, and a real credit to our school on their very first public "appearance"! Many thanks to all of you who came to support this event; I hope that it created lots of happy memories and got your Christmas countdown off to a wonderful start.  A special "well done" to our Year 2 and Year 4 readers who not only spoke clearly in front of a large audience, but also wrote their own prayers based around the meaning of Christingle; a big thank you to Mrs. Hannam who co-ordinated this and to Reverend Jamie for leading the service.

Throughout the school this week we are finishing off our term's topic work, whist keeping one eye on the forthcoming Christmas celebrations.  This week sees the choir perform at Highgate Hall for the annual Christmas lunch; it always feels lovely to be part of such a popular community event.  Our own Christmas dinners are next week (time for the teachers to dig out those rubber gloves again!)  Please make sure that if you are joining us, you know which sittling you are attending; this information has been sent home.

As our school continues to grow, we are adapting the usual format of our traditional Christmas service: this year, the children in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 will lead the service with a short production entitled "Little Nativity".  It has been wonderful walking round the school, hearing bursts of the songs every now and then, and I'm really looking forward to enjoying the final performance next Friday.

Many thanks to those of you who were able to attend our Curriculum Evening a couple of weeks ago.  We were all delighted to welcome so many of you, and from the comments we received, it appears that the evening was very much appreciated by all who attended. We hope to build on the success of this event over the next term, so please watch this space and remember to contact your child's class teacher if you have any questions about what we are teaching, how we are teaching it and what you can do to help.  We would all prefer to be asked a "stupid" question, rather than feel we are not supporting you and your child together.
